Adedayo, the son of the University of Ibadan Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Adewole, has presented a library and a borehole to Iroko community in Akinyele council area of Oyo State.

Adedayo, who did his National Youth Service Corps primary assignment in the community, said he initiated the project after recognising the needs of the pupils and residents of the area.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who thaked the donor, also commended the monarch of the community, Oba Olasunkanmi Opeola, and the people for supporting the project.

The state Commissioner for Education, Prof. Solomon Olaniyonu, represented the governor on the occasion.

The governor said, “The library will add value and facilitate learning in the community. I urge the pupils and members of staff of the Iroko Community High School to make the best use of the library. This administration will continue to collaborate with individuals and agencies willing to lift education in the state.”

A World Bank representative at the event, Prof. Foluso Okumadewa, said the project was in line with the vision of the financial institution.

He added that the bank would be willing to support more of such projects in the state.

“When he discussed the project with me, I fell in love with it because it was within our vision. There are 76 communities enjoying World Bank support of this nature in the state. We promise that with the corps member drawing our attention to the needs of this community, we will be coming soon with an initiative,” Okumadewa added.

Adedayo, in his remarks, noted that many people supported the initiatives.

Thanking the governor for his love for education, Adedayo promised to do more by providing scholarship to some pupils of the school.

The state Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, Olufunmilayo Akin-Moses, represented by Mrs. Olubukola Abiodun, urged communities to cooperate with corps members, who have laudable initiatives to offer.
