The World bank will be providing 40 million dollars to Anambra to help them in the development of education said Mr Irajen Appasamy who is the bank senior operations officer on education.
He said this during a meeting in Awka on Monday between the bank, the National Bureau of Statistics and the Federal Ministries of Education and Finance.
The aim of the meeting was to improve statistical production and the usage for a better result.
He said that the bank is planning to contribute a total sum of 150 million dollars to three states namely Anambra,Ekiti,Bauchi and the Federal Capital Territory(FCT).
Officials says that the fund that will be released in two months time would be used to assist the States to help them prepare projects focused on achieving a good result in the area of education.
This approach is focused on what the States really wants to achieve.
Earlier on, the state commissioner for budget and Economic planning, Prof. Stella Okunna, described the selection of Anambra for the donation as a reward.
This reward is because Anambra is known for executing projects with data and statistics.
“ The state was the first to enact a law in 2009 and establish a bureau of statistics,” she said
The state was commended for establishing the education management and information system
