The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation status to the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) pharmacy programme.

In a letter signed by the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Commission, Professor C. F. Mafiana, on behalf of the Executive Secretary; the programme was granted accreditation for a five-year period.

According to the result of the accreditation process, UNIUYO scored a total of 78.8 per cent in the areas of academic contents, staffing, physical facilities, library, employers rating and other criteria.

This follows an earlier full professional accreditation of the programme by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria.

In his reaction, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Comfort Ekpo, said the full accreditation of pharmacy programme in UNIUYO had proven wrong earlier news of the scrapping of the course in the school.
