The National Universities Commission has granted full accreditation to the College of Medicine, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Patrick Aina, stated this at the pre-convocation briefing in Ado Ekiti on Monday.
He added that the college was expecting another accreditation by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
Aina, who said the institution was set to graduate 6,807 during its 20th convocation, said 19 of them obtained first class degrees.
Giving an account of his four-year stewardship, the VC said he had raised the internally generated revenue of the school and judiciously utilised the same.
He explained that the IGR formed the bulk of the money used in equipping the medical college.
He also commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, corporate bodies and well-wishers for assisting in re-positioning the university.
He added, “Twenty-five new buildings were put up, including buildings for eight faculty offices. Also, the NUC and other relevant professional bodies successfully accredited 47 academic programmes in the school.”
