No fewer than 29 programmes of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Ekiti state have been accredited by the National Universities Commission, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Isaac Asuzu has said.

He also urged leaders of the three principal unions in the university to always make their demand on promotion and payment of some allowances in line with the labour laws.

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Non-Academic Staff Union and National Association of Academic Technologists, had embarked on strike over non-payment of the some allowances to the 1,469 workers in the university.

Asuzu, who spoke in Oye Ekiti yesterday said the accreditation of all the courses being run by five faculties in the university attested to quality personnel and hardwork that has been displayed by management.

While assuring that the management would continue to place premium on workers’ welfare and engage the unions in resolving all issues, he maintained that the university would not hesitate to wield the big stick against unruly staff.
