National Teachers Institute (NTI), Kaduna, has matriculated over 35,000 students for various programmes with a call on them to utilize the opportunities to achieve life’s goals as the institute produces teacher training learning materials unequaled in quality by any tertiary institution in the country.

The exercise, which held simultaneously nationwide, climaxed the admission process for the 2014/2015 session, as the institute continues to provide opportunity to Nigerian teachers to develop themselves in their chosen profession.

In his welcome address, the Director General and Chief Executive of the Institute, Dr Aminu Ladan Sharehu, said Open Distance Learning (ODL) provides equality of opportunities for both developed and developing nations such as Nigeria.

He stressed that it also provides golden opportunity for working class individuals to further and boost their education conveniently.

“By so doing, it provides the needed manpower for the various professions which the conventional institutions cannot meet. It also encourages flexibility in the use of space, time and modern technologies” he emphasized.

He advised the new students to prioritise their schedule and time to meet the demands of their programmes as a distance learner for whom self study is vital for the successful completion of their course.

He stressed that self study takes about 80 per cent of their study time while the remaining 20 per cent is committed to intensive tutorial session.

He enjoined them to spend not less than four hours daily on self study while consulting as many relevant materials as possible.

In his goodwill message, Senior Consultant to the institute, Professor Emeritus Thomas Kolawole Adeyanju, said NTI study materials are exceptional as they are produced by seasoned and impeccable education professional.

He said the institute is outstanding as course facilitators across the nation work round the clock all year round and the as a result, the institute never goes on strike.
