JAMB News:Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Dibu Ojerinde has called on government, corporate organizations and other public-spirited individuals to support the game of golf in Nigeria.
Ojerinde made the call in Minna on Wednesday while speaking at the commissioning of Raf 15 of the Minna Cantonment Golf course which he assisted to re-green.
He said the much-talked about employment of youths in the country could be speedily achieved if government emphasized on their participation in Golf because as professionals such youth golfers would be able to fend for themselves and their families.
Golf the JAMB Registrar said ‘is a game of life’ which also allows individuals to mix freely within their immediate community and outside the shores of the country.
It took three years to re-green Raf 15 because the course being one of the oldest in the country had 18 holes with only 8 meeting international standard. Therefore, Ojerinde asked other Golfers in the club to assist to upgrade the remaining holes.
The Raf 15 was named the ‘Achievers hole’ and dedicated to Professor Ojerinde because of his contribution to the club in the short time he became its member.
A tournament marking the commissioning is ongoing at the Course and Tournament Secretary Mr. O. Olusegun said 24 players are taking part in the competition.
