The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State has organised orientation programmes for its fresh students to enable them to acquire information that would make them good students.

The university Registrar, Mr. Mathew Ayoola, who spoke on one of the occasions, urged them to be well behaved and to always conduct themselves in a positive way.

The Registrar stated that the university encouraged and rewarded good conduct, advising the students not to engage in any unruly behaviour, such as fighting and wilfully damaging of the university property.

The university Counsellor, Mrs. Modesta Ofodile, also advised them to set and to endeavour to accomplish their goals in life.

In a lecture titled, “Effective Method of Studying in the university”, she noted that in order for them to be outstanding scholars, they needed to attend classes regularly, do assignments as well as to read widely.

Also, the Deputy Director, Senate and Admissions, Mr. Aniediabasi Udofia, advised them on the ‘dos and don’ts’ of academic success.

Mrs. Oluwafunke Adegbite of the Student Affairs Division, while speaking on “Behavioural Therapy for Academic Session”, urged them to see members of the opposite sex as an extension of their family members by according them due respect.

She advised them not to give in to peer pressure and visit the counselling unit of the university whenever they needed clarifications.

Meanwhile, the Director, Institute of Human Resources Development, Prof. Francis Showemimo, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Oyewole, congratulated them on their admissions and advised them to take their studies seriously.

The VC also charged them to be cautious of how they use the social media.
