The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, has urged fresh students of the school to endeavour to abide by the institution’s rules and regulations.

Daramola spoke while admitting fresh students for the 2014/2015 academic session.

The VC advised them to be peace loving, law abiding and to shun cultism and other behaviour that could prematurely frustrate their academic ambition.

He also enjoined them to focus on their academic pursuit, especially as the university has zero tolerance for anti-social behaviour.

Daramola, who commended the contributions of the University Admissions Committee under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Emmanuel Fasakin, stated that the university would continue to be the envy of other universities in the country considering its enviable heights.

According to him, the institution is no longer a local champion as its collaboration with reputable academic centres has made it an international player in the global community.

He noted that apart from its collaboration with the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, United States, plans were on to send FUTA students to universities in Germany and Brazil on exchange programme.

Daramola said the institution would continue to be the toast of many young Nigerians in search of excellent education in science and technology.

He said during the last admission exercise over 10,000 students applied to the university while 4,039 eventually scaled the huddle and got admissions into the Institution’s six schools.

The Registrar, Dr. Modupe Ajayi, administered the matriculation oath on the 3, 675 fresh students.
