The Director, Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies, at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Prof. Femi Onifade, has urged young graduates to strive towards becoming job creators
He made the appeal at a training session to help students become job-creators and avoid becoming a liability to the society.
The CENT alongside the Rotary Club of Altadena, California, as well as the Rotary Club of Sagamu, organised the training.
According to Onifade, the training prepares the beneficiaries well for a life after graduation without seeking white-collar jobs.
He added, “With this exposure, these students will be able to help themselves and help others. The university, through CENTS, would be able to continue to train and mentor them in a particular venture, which they would like to go into in the future.
“I believe what they have gained during the training has opened their eyes to what they are likely to meet when they have a business venture, how to avoid certain traps and improve on their integrity.”
Onifade also promised that CENTS would be willing to offer more services that are advisory to the participants whenever they wished to set themselves up.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer YOMTAB Testimony Farms, Abeokuta, Mr. Yomi Banjo, who spoke on “Becoming Your Own Boss”, urged the participants to endeavour to be their own bosses.
According to the 1996 graduate of the university, in order to become one’s boss, one should be ready to take serious life decisions.
