| Boat Mishap |
News gotten from the Daily Trust states that 17 persons, Mostly children and women were killed while others missing when a locally made boat(canoe) capsized in River Kaduna in Kwara State
According to a relation, said the incident took place on wednessday at 11am when the canoe carrying close to fifty persons was returning from Patigi in Kwara State to Nupeko village in Niger State
Many of the passengers were returning home after attending a marriage ceremony in a neighbouring village of Kwara State
So far, 30 persons have been rescued and have been taken home to their family while the search for the missing ones is still going on.
The main cause of the boat mishap has not been officially ascertained but stories gotten states that the boat capsized as a result of hitting a log of wood in the over flooding river.
All recovered bodies have been transferred to the mortuary.
