Benson Idahosa University has announced that 49 students of the ivory tower were found worthy of and came out with first class degrees.

The institution said the students would be conferred alongside 871graduating students during it 11th convocation ceremony scheduled to hold weekend.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Ernest B. Izevbigie in a press conference where he confirmed to journalists that the convocation would be the largest ever since the inception of the institution.

The vice chancellor said that the faculty of agriculture was convocating a total of three students, faculty of arts and education, 203 students, faculty of basic /applied science, 189 students; and faculty of social management sciences 303students respectively.

Giving a breakdown of the degrees Izevbigie said that 49 students will be awarded first class, 270 students, second class upper division, 414 students second class lower and 50 students, third class divisions respectively adding that the institution is putting modalities in place to introducing e – learning to their students who can have access to detailed lectures in the comfort of their pockets.

“ There will be a meeting with most of the information technology companies to further speed up the availability of the e-learning process to ensure that students get access to lectures and notes taken even while they are not in class” he said.

He also said that the institution have been able to succeed in various endeavours ranging from sport to inventions and innovations.

“Benson Idahosa University supports research as it is the distinguishing factor between a good university and a mediocre university. The faculty of basic and applied sciences produced hand sanitisers currently under NAFDAC consideration for registration and commercialisation.
