Recently, this past weekend the University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom (UNIUYO), matriculated over 10, 926 fresh students for the 2016/2017 academic session.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Enefiok Essien of the school, warned against cultism and all activities that would be harmful to their studies.

He also advised them to set goals for themselves and submissively pursue the goals to a successful completion during his address to the new freshers.

He further urged them to abide by the school’s rules and regulations as the school authorities will not hesitate to take necessary actions against students that do not comply.

“I encourage you to remain positively adventurous throughout your university experience. More importantly, from this moment on, you will shed most of your childish nuances and youthful exuberance and devote your time and energy to your studies.

“What this means is that you must have the right priorities, with your education at the very top. Remember that there will be no bell to ring, no parent to wake you up from bed or monitor your movement.”

What you need is to be disciplined enough to get prepared for your lectures and other positive social activities on time.” He advised all students.
