The management of the Academy wishes to inform the general public that with effect from 2015/2016 Academic Session, admission into regular programmes of the Academy (except Post Graduate Diploma Courses) shall be through Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, (JAMB).
Interested candidates are expected to buy JAMB Form which is currently on sale and fill in any programme of their choice offered by the AcademyFor the avoidance of doubt, only candidates who pass through JAMB would be considered for admission into any of the Academy’s regular programme.

A.) NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND)

  • Nautical Science
  • Marine Engineering
  • Boat/Ship Building Technology
  • Maritime Transport and Business Studies

These are two-years (4-semesters) courses of study leading to the award of the National Diploma (ND)

Career Prospect

  • Holders of National Diploma in Nautical Science or Marine Engineering can take up a career ashore or as sea-going merchant navy officers on the deck or in the engine room department of a ship as applicable.
  • Holders of National Diploma in Boat/Ship Building Technology can work in ship/boat building and repair yards, dry-docking yards, marine engineering workshops and other relevant establishments.
  • Holders of the National Diploma in Maritime Transport and Business Studies can take up a career as supervisors in the operations, administrative, commercial or finance departments of Maritime establishments, shipping companies, shipping agencies, ports, oil companies, off-shore oil support companies, manufacturing companies, arid organizations dealing with import and export of – goods and marine insurance They can also work establishments dealing with maritime law and marine environment protection.

Admission Requirements Into Maritime Academy of Nigeria Oron

Course: ND – Nautical ScienceAcademic Requirements
Applicant must possess the following:Five (5) credit passes at Senior School Certificate examination or it equivalent in the following subject:

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • And any two of Geography, Chemistry general Science obtained at NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS.

Physical Fitness

  • Applicants who may be male or female must be physically and mentally fit to be able to withstand the requirements of cadet ship training.

Marital Status

  • Applicants who must be single shall remain single throughout the duration of the programme

Age Limit

  • Applicants for the admission into National Diploma Programme in Nautical Science of the Academy should be between the age of 16 and 21 years at the time of commencement of the programme.

Course – ND Marine Engineering

Academic Requirements

  • Applicant must be holder of Senior School Certificate examination or it equivalent with at least Five (5) credit passes in the following subject:
  1. English Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Physics
  4. and any two of Technical Drawing, Chemistry and General Science

Physical Fitness

  • Applicants who may be male or female must be physically and mentally fit to be able to withstand the requirements of cadet ship training.

Marital Status

  • Applicants who must be single shall remain single throughout the duration of the programme

Age Limit

  • Applicants for the admission into National Diploma Programme in Nautical Science of the Academy should be between the age of 16 and 21 years at the time of commencement of the programme.

Course: ND Boat/Ship Building Technology

Academic Requirements

  • Applicant must be holder of Senior School Certificate or it equivalent with at least Five (5) credit passes in the following subject obtained at not more than Two (2) sittings:
  1. English Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Physics
  4. and any two of Technical Drawing, Chemistry and General Science

Physical Fitness

  • Applicants who may be male or female must be physically and mentally fit to be able to withstand the requirements of cadetship training.

Marital Status

  • Applicants who must be single shall remain single throughout the duration of the programme

Age Limit

  • Applicants for the admission into National Diploma Programme in Nautical Science of the Academy should be between the age of 16 and 25 years at the time of commencement of the programme.

Course: ND – Maritime Transport and Business

Academic Requirements

  • Applicant must be holder of Senior School Certificate or it equivalent with at least Five (5) credit passes in the following subject obtained at not more than Two (2) sittings:

  3. Economics/Commerce
  4. and any two of Government, Principles of Account, Chemistry and Geography

Physical Fitness

  • Applicants who may be male or female must be physically and mentally fit to be able to withstand the requirements of cadetship training.

  • Applicants who must be single shall remain single throughout the duration of the programme

Age Limit

  • Applicants for the admission into National Diploma Programme in Nautical Science of the Academy should be between the age of 16 and 25 years at the time of commencement of the programme.

National Diploma (Special Courses)
Candidates wishing to offer any of the following National Diploma Programes grouped under special course of the Academy should apply DIRECT to the Academy using the following on-line address macademyoron.org/portal/students

Duration: All ND courses under the special courses are for two (2) years duration

Note: Admission into Higher National Diploma Programme of the Academy is through Direct Entry.

Applicants seeking admission into Higher National Diploma Programme of the Academy should obtain JAMB Direct Entry Form, fill the required course(s) and forward to JAMB for proper placement.

Admission Requirements

  • Candidates must satisfy all the requirements for admission into the National Diploma programme in Nautical Science, Marine Engineering or Maritime Transport and Business Studies of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron or from a recognized institution, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit);
  • Must have undergone a minimum of one year Post ND Apprenticeship Training or aquired cognate work experience in a relevant establishment or organisation

C.)  National Maritime Academy Postgraduate Diploma Programme

Course: PGD Shipping and Transport management (One year)

  • Applicants must possess a good honours degree (B.Sc) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business or Social Science from a recognized university or polytechnic.
  • Membership of relevant professional body will be an added advantage.
  • Candidates with qualifications equivalents to (a) above may be considered for admission based in maturity and lenght of service in the Maritime Industry.

Course: PGD Maritime Transport Technology(One year)

  • Applicants must possess a good honours degree (B.Sc) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in physical Science or Engineering from a recognized university or polytechnic.
  • Membership of relevant professional body will be an added advantage.
  • Candidates with qualifications equivalents to (a) above may be considered for admission based in maturity and lenght of service in the Maritime Industry.

Course: PGD Maritime Engineering (Two years)

  • Applicants must possess a good honours degree (B.Sc) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering from a recognized university or polytechnic.
  • 1st class Marine Engineering Certificate (Foreign Going)
  • Candidates with qualifications equivalents to (a) above may be considered for admission based in maturity and lenght of service in the Maritime Industry.
  • Membership of relevant professional body will be an added advantage.
