Entering a university – a though that can make you sweat and worry even if you are not that easy to scare. Do not worry! JAMB has made a list of the top universities of Nigeria that are absolutely worth entering. So got through the list – and find your own place to start working on your future career!

Let’s go through the list and see what universities are considered to be the best ones according to the 4 International Colleges & Universities (4ICU):

  3. University of Ibadan, IBADAN
  4. University of Ilorin, ILORIN
  5. Covenant University, OTA
  6. Federal University of Technology, Minna, MINNA
  7. University of Nigeria, NSUKKA
  8. University of Benin, UGBOWO
  9. University of Port Harcourt, PORT HARCOURT
  10. Ahmadu Bello University, ZARIA

However, as the statistics show not always official rates is the criterion for students to choose the place to study. As the recently revealed statistics showed students submitted most of their applications to different universities. Thus, let’s see which universities appeared to be most sought-after this year.

As many as 107,488 applicants submitted their applications to the University of Ilorin, UNILORIN despite the high Cut off mark rates and being only the 4th top university of Nigeria. As the university authorities say, they will only accept 11,000 students to study with them.

Next comes the 8th best University of Nigeria namely University of Benin. More than 71,000 applicants are willing to enter this university. This university is also known to have high Cut off mark (200).

You will be surprised to learn that the next university is not even among the best ten ones. It only takes 16th place in the list and is called Nnamdi Azikiwe University with only less than a thousand applicants less than the previous university.

Are you excited to learn about the number of people willing to study at University of Nigeria? There you go: this university received as many as almost 67,000 applications this year. Maybe the reason for such a popularity is the news of a possible reduction of the Cut off mark level?

And here comes the first officially best university of Nigeria – University of Lagos. It was chosen by more than 62,000 of applicants as their Dream University. We’ll see how many of them will be actually given the privilege to study here.

The biggest educational institution in Nigeria as well as 2nd biggest in Africa in general was chosen by 60,200 applicants. I am sure you know that I am talking about Ahmadu Bello University which is #10 on our list.

Let’s move on to the seventh most sought-after university in Nigeria – University of Ibadan with almost 47,500 applicants for 2016/2017 academic year.

The eighth place belongs to the Bayero University Kano and probably thanks to high professional skills of its staff as well as lower Cut off mark level which is 180 (luckily!). It received 46,800 application forms.

Second officially best university was among the ten most sought-after universities as well. Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, got almost 44,000 application forms and became #9 on our list.

And last but not least university among our top-10 according to the JAMB ranking is the University of Uyo with received 41,600 application forms.
