Please be aware that the 2013/2014 Petroleum Technology Development fund (ptdf) Undergraduate Scholarship award  is currently welcoming invitations from suitable candidates for undergraduate scholarship programme. The PTDF is part of the ministry of petroleum resources which was established in the year 1973.

As part of their aim, the body is sighting at improving the level of education among students of the tertiary institution by proffering scholarship programmes to deserving undergraduate in any Nigerian institution. With their commitment in the progressive aspect of education, the Petroleum Technology Development Fund is inviting suitable applications from qualified candidates for Overseas MSC and PhD scholarships. This scholarship will be given for studies in the 2013/2014 academic session in the United Kingdom, France and upgraded Universities in the Nigeria.

HOW TO APPLY

To apply for this scholarship programme, you are to purchase a scratch card from the bank. Designated bank  is slated to be FIRST BANK PLC. Please note that the fee is a non refundable sum of N1,000 (One thousand Naira only).

After that has been done, you can now complete your registration process via the internet.To do so, please visit the 2013/2014 PTDF Scholarship Registration website. Also endeavor to read the instruction that comes on the scratch card as this will help you to make easy registration. Please note that only a limited number of candidates will be sponsored to the Overseas while the rest will be fixed accordingly in the following institutions listed below:

All applicants or candidates applying for this position should be within his or her 2nd level in any of the mentioned Nigerian institution and must have a proof of a valid university admission letter(This will be mandatory for all PHD  applicants).

REQUIREMENTS

SCHOLARSHIP FOR UNDERGRADUATES IN NIGERIA ONLY

– You must possess at-least 5 credits in your Waec or Neco which will include English Language and Mathematics.

– Must have concluded the 1st year of their study in any of the PTDF upgraded Federal Universities listed above.
– Must have scored a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on scale of 5 or 4.5 on a scale of 7 in their 1st Year.

– Must scan and attach a copy of their admission letter

– Students admitted into the University through Direct Entry i.e. 200 level must have either of the following:

– Minimum of Upper Credit at the Diploma level

– Minimum of 10 points in interim Joint Matriculation Board (I.J.M.B) examination.

– Minimum of 8 points at the Advanced Level General Certificate of Education (G.C.E).

FOR MSC ( OVERSEAS)

Please see the list of requirements below:

n  Applicants must be acquainted with the computer

n  Must have a minimum of 2nd class upper in an Oil and Gas relevant field or a 2.2 with an Oil and Gas company with experience.

n  An NYSC Certificate

n  Must have a Waec result with credits in related subjects including ENG and Maths.

n  Must not be more than age 30.

n  If applicant lacks a credit in English Language but have any of the below mentioned following, he/she can apply

  1. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

    ii. G.R.E ( Graduate Record Examination)

    iii. GMAT –for Management related courses

    iv. International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

PhD

n  Applicants must not be more than the age of 40

n  Must have to include their master degree project in their project

n  Must add a valid admission letter

n  Must have a minimum of 2.2 in their first degree and a good 2nd degree certificate

n   Applicants must submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than 5 pages) to include: Topic, introduction, objective, methodology and mode of data collection;

n  Must also be in the academics in the Nigerian institutions, teaching oil and gas related course.
