FIFTY graduates of Medicine and Surgery of the Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, were, last Thursday, inducted by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
The epoch event, which held at the school auditorium witnessed graduands clad in blue academic gownS beaming infectious smiles.
Speaking at the event, the Vice chancellor, Prof. Chibuzo Ogbuagu, who was represented by the Deputy Vice chancellor, Prof. Ifeanyi Elekwa, advised the newly inducted medical doctors not to engage in practices that could tarnish the image of the school, stressing that the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) would be forced to withdraw the license of anyone found compromising the standards of the profession.
The Provost College of Medicine, ABSU, Prof. Christian Aluka called on the inductees to practice their profession with the fear of God.
“Put the welfare of your patients first, render skillful competent service and your needs will be taken care of. Aside this, make personal efforts to continually update yourself with current knowledge in the profession and above all, specialise in a particular area of medicine to be an efficient and effective practitioner,” he said.
