Job Description

• Repair Heavy Duty vehicles (HDV) to ensure identification and elimination of breakdowns.
•  Perform routine check on HDV for proper performance and inspect vehicles to detect faults and malfunctions.
• Test repaired vehicles for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications.
• Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on vehicles.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Section Head, HDV from time to time.
• Conduct regular inspections of trucks to identify any issues or maintenance needs.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting parts.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems and determine the best course of action for repair.
• Repair or replace faulty components using hand and power tools.
• Test repaired trucks to ensure proper functioning and performance.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines at all times.
• Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in mechanical technology.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on trucks and commercial vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, electrical systems, and air conditioning.
• Diagnose mechanical issues using specialized diagnostic tools and software.
• Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify potential issues and recommend preventive maintenance.
• Replace worn or faulty parts, including engines, tires, brakes, and belts, as needed.
• Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed on each vehicle.
• Perform oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, and other routine maintenance tasks.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues, including wiring and battery problems.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards for maintenance practices.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and ensure a clean and organized work environment.
• Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced team members.
• Assist with road calls for on-site repairs when necessary.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of truck technology and mechanical advancements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a truck mechanic or diesel mechanic.
• Certification in automotive/diesel mechanics (e.g., ASE certification) is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in trucks and heavy vehicles.
• Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical bulletins.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Good communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
• Physical stamina to perform the duties required, including lifting heavy parts and working in various weather conditions.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
