PORT HARCOURT— Lecturers in the University of Port Harcourt, Uniport, under the auspices of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, have called for the immediate and unconditional release of their colleague by his abductors.
Dr. Eebah Lebari, who teaches in the Department of Management, Faculty of Management Science, in Uniport, was abducted on October 17, at the entrance to his residence in Mbuoba area of Port Harcourt while returning from work.
The gunmen were said to have allegedly traced their victim, Lebari, from his office to his residence where he was blocked at the gate and forcefully whisked away at gunpoint.
One month after his abduction, his family and ASUU in the institution have expressed worry that no contact had been made with the kidnappers.
Addressing newsmen, yesterday, the UNIPORT ASUU Chairperson, Prof. Anthonia Okerengwo, condemned the act of violence and kidnap directed at lecturers.
