Following clashes between cult groups in University of Benin, and Ekosodin community (a community around the school harboring majority of UNIBEN students) the institution has suspended all academic activities temporarily.
According to a source, the unfortunate drama started on Thursday evening when some suspected cult members stormed one of the hostels in Ekosodin community armed with different terrifying weapons including guns and were harassing the occupants of the hostel.
Furthermore, several students returning from night
studying in the school on Thursday were beaten
and and their valuables taken.
Meanwhile some sustained varying degrees of injuries while few others were reported to have died in the process, though this has not been officially confirmed.
On Friday morning, ambulances were spotted
around the community to convey corpses and injured victims for treatment.
The institution has issued a notice to all students concerning the suspension of the second semester examination earlier slated for Friday, 21st of November till Monday, 24th of November.
