The Graduate Internship Programme (GIS) of SURE-P aims to provide no fewer than fifty thousand graduates with quality work experience, an officer of Federal Ministry of finance Sodiya Idris Ayoola has said.

Speaking during the opening of three days orientation training for interns and representatives of Firms in Katsina state, Idris said the scheme also strived to improve the employable kills of interns.

He listed other objectives of the scheme to include improving job placement options by providing opportunity to acquire professional skills.

Idris urged interns to give their best during the period of internship.

Addressing the interns, yesterday, a training consultant with Lead Corporate Promotion, Sunday Asikele said the orientation training aimed to expose the participating graduates to specific skills necessary for use in their work place.

He said the GIS programme aimed to provide interns the opportunity to share experience on opportunities and challenges in the work place, and, exposed them to learning entrepreneurial skills.

‘’The thrust of the GIS is to bridge the gap between school and labour market’ he said and insisted that the scheme had been a success because it offered the opportunity to get the best out of the youths”

Asikele said the firm has conducted orientation training for over six hundred graduates even as it has organised exit training for others who have successfully participated in the scheme in Katsina State.
