A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Dr Omanudhowho Kennedy on the platform of Grace Project International has donated  50 simplified wheelchairs to less privileged people living with disabilities(PWDs).

Making the donations in Abuja yesterday,the Doctor said “the donations were out of love and compassion developed during an outreach in Toru- Doro, a community in Bayelsa state which lacked functional health facilities”.

Recalling the outreach he said”one of the communities I visited at the time was Toru-Doro in Bayelsa state,the place lacked a functional health facility as people there bathes,washed clothes, defecated, cooked and drank from the same river,diseases were much”

.”A dental patient I saw was a 6 months pregnant woman with severe toothache of a lower right third molars that clinically looked impacted(the treatment was to extract it surgically)”

Dr Kennedy recalled that as a final year Dental student then he was limited by the medications he could offer, and the kind of extraction he could do,but that inspired him to  use his clinical skills wherever possible to help humanity especially the less privileged.

In his words the NYSC Project is borne out of the love and compassion developed during the toru outreach and “it is the same love and compassion that drives me to go the extra mile sometimes in helping my patients in my daily work at the clinic”.

He added that “the NYSC community service department provides him not only an opportunity to keep his promise this year but also organise a more elaborate free treatment program than in previous out reaches”.

The Dentists revealed that the program which had a second phase will involve a one week free medicals, Dentals and optometrists treatments and surgeries in two communities within the FCT.

The surgeries he said  will target 50 cases of surgeries requiring local and regional anaesthesia,hernia repairs, appendectomies, fibriods, ceaserian sections.

Also speaking with leadership, a 14 year beneficiary of Dr Kennedy’s Goodwill Miracle Nwosu said she was grateful for the wheel chair which was a new boosts to her life,because life had been very difficult without a wheelchair as she had serious pains when she walked a little distance”.

14 years intelligent sounding Miracle who said her greatest wish was to be in school expressed optimism that with the wheel chair her pains will be reduced and she could move more freely.
