Today i stumbled on a very interesting motivation that really inspired me the whole day. While strolling down the streets of Bonny Island via the King Jaja Road, i came across an innovative idea set up by a team of brilliant people with the purpose of driving the learning force of students with the engine of education.

The Youth Resource Centre Bonny as named by its founder(s), is a non profit organization (NGO) established in the year 2014 with the soul purpose of building, educating, teaching and planting the attitude of reading in the minds of students. Of cause i could not resist the temptation of not going into the place to find out what the organization was actually all about. One of the things that interest me the most is the fact that interesting scholarship updates are being published which serves as a backbone to cheer up interested applicants.

The YRC, is one of the first educational niche focused Non Governmental Organization established in Bonny Island and i have the feeling that the NGO will grow from strength to strength since its director, Mr Excel Ukpohor a passionate and educative young man who is walking with the best team to daily run the day activities of the organization.

What Can One Benefit From The Youth Resource Centre Bonny?

I knew you were going to ask such question and that was why i had to personally arrange an unprepared and undocumented interview with the Director of the centre, Mr Excel Ukpohor who actually made me to understand that the centre was loaded with lots of career lifting updates.

The goal(s) of the Youth Resource Centre

The Youth Resource Centre provides a safe and encouraging environment for the youths to explore their full potential.The centre offers services and programs to youth between the ages of 12-26 that harness creativity, energy and leadership the community needs to grow and thrive.

The centre provides career path counseling, mentoring, activities and community volunteerism opportunities, and a variety of physical and mental health services. The support and services the YRC provides contributes to an educated , healthy and vibrant youth population and reduces the risks associated with crime, homelessness, addiction and recidivism among others.

Facilities

When i checked the centre i observed that the centre is equipped with a resource room housing over one thousand books, publications and articles.These books include:

>> School text books in the different subjects like Maths, Physics, chemistry, Accounting,Economics and a whole lots of them.

>>Prospectus from foreign and local Universities and colleges.

>> A reading / Study room for students to perform tasks like researches and reading.

>>On alluring innovation in this organization, is that they have a fully loaded Audio Visual room for presentations and talks on issues ranging from career development to day to day growing up issues.

The centre also provides a counseling partnership programs that provides the youths with an opportunity to connect with mentors who will guide them through various life issues.
