Worried by the unwholesome proliferation of private educational institutions, government of Akwa Ibom has vowed to close dawn all illegal nursery, primary and secondary schools across the state.
The state commissioner for Education, Elder Aniekan Akpan, who made this known in Uyo said that owners of such schools should regularise their status within two weeks or face severe action.
He condemned the situation where people would just established educational institutions without due regard for the law and guideline set by the Ministry of Education on proper standard.
Akpan explained that most proprietors of the illegal schools just open them for commercial purpose without recourse to substandard.
He stressed that such unwholesome practice was counter-productive to provision of quality education for upcoming generation who require better and conducive environment as well as qualified teachers for effective teaching and learning.
The commissioner, therefore, advised proprietors and owners of such institutions who has not completed their registration formalities to do so without further delay or face outright closure.
