The MTN MIFI device is one interesting portable device that is very easy to use. It allows users connect up to five WIFI enabled devices such as laptops, phones etc. The MTN MIFI works at a distance of up to 10m or 30ft
  • To use this device, insert your SIM card through the SIM card slot at the back of your MIFI device.
  • Connect the MIFI to a PC with the compatible data cable inside the pack
  • Switch on the MIFI by pressing and holding the power button until the light comes on.
  • The modem is “Plug and Play” and will automatically install upon powering on. But in a situation it does not work, double click on the setup icon in the MIFI folder from your computer and wait for it to install completely.
  • This MIFI Device can be used in a USB mode or a WIFI mode( connecting up to 5 WIFI enabled devices).
  • Launch the MTN MIFI from the icon on the desktop to open the MTN MIFI user interface. Incase you find it difficult launching it, check your browser proxy settings and set to auto detect settings.
  • Once that has been achieved, Login with your password: the default password is admin. Please change the password to your desired one.
  • Make a recharge and activate any of the data plans from the subscription page on the interface. Send appropriate keyword by SMS.
  • A confirmation message will be sent to you, you can now launch your browser and connect to the internet.
  • Remember that you can connect up to 5 WIFI enabled devices using the MTN MIFI user interface so ensure that your MIFI devices is powered on.
  • Turn on the WI-FI on your computer and search for an available wireless network. When found, select and connect to the MTN MIFI E5830S (password/key is printed behind the device. check for yours)
  • You can modify the display name if you wish. After a successful connection, you can now connect to the internet.
  • Start your internet browser and enter http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar.
  • Login with your password( default password is admin).
  • Click and select the SMS located at the top of the screen and send an SMS with the keyword MIFI to 131
  • A message will be sent to you confirming that you have 5GB of data valid for a month.
  • You can now connect to the internet.
