The Provost of the Federal College of Education, Yola, Professor Abdul-Mumin Sa’ad has commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, over its intervention in the upliftment of the nation’s education sector, even as he stated that the institution is embarking on massive upgrading of its facilities to get approval to run more degree programmes.

According to Prof Sa’ad, TETfund has been one of the major financiers of the College’s training programmes, as well as the construction of its Directorate of Undergraduate Studies, new School of Arts and Social Sciences, a 1000 capacity auditorium, a completed multimedia language laboratory, a proposed 500 capacity ICT examination hall among others.

He said; “Because of TETfund’s intervention, we have been able to send many of our staff on training at Masters and PhD abroad, we have been able to renovate our laboratories and classrooms, as well as address some of our critical problems.”

Speaking on the massive upgrading of its facilities to get approval to run more degree programmes, the don pointed that “the College originally intended to run degree programmes in about 20 courses, but got accreditation in nine programmes for the 2014/2015 session, thus, the need to redouble our effort to get more approvals.

“Our efforts are to ensure that we get approval to introduce four to five more degree programmes and admit more National Certificate Examination, NCE, students.”
