Some candidates who registered for the newly- introduced Computer- Based Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examinations (UTME) in Bauchi, say they are fully prepared for the examination.
They told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday that they had undergone computer lessons to enable them sit for the examination, as such they would face no challenges using the computer.
One of the students, Martins Madaki, told NAN that he enrolled for a six months computer training just to be effectively prepared for the examination.
“I enrolled for computer training the moment I learnt that JAMB examinations will be computer-based, and that the paper-pencil test (PPT), as well as the dual based test (DBT) that were earlier in use, had been cancelled.
“I did not want lack of computer knowledge to stand on my way, since computer has become the only channel through which students could secure admission to tertiary institution.
“I am very confident to say that I am well prepared for the examination; I have studied hard acquired the necessary skills in Information Technology, as such, ready for the examination, “he said.
Another student, Aisha Adamu, also said she had undergone computer training in one of the computer training centres in the state.
“It was announced that this year’s JAMB would be strictly computer-based, so any student who did not prepare should have himself to blame if he fails the examination for lack of computer knowledge.
The story was the same for Abubakar Isa, who told NAN that he would be writing the examination for the second time.
According to him, students have no choice but to acquire computer knowledge if they hope to secure admission into tertiary institutions.
It would be recall that JAMB) had earlier announced that the 2015 UTME would be computer-based, with about 1.4 million registered candidates expected to sit for the examinations nationwide.
The examination is scheduled to hold nationwide from March 10, to March 21 in 400 centres. (NAN)
