While Nigeria student wait for the end of the dialogue between the federal Government and Asuu come to an end, new stories erupts which may now make the whole situation very hard to believe if actually both parties will ever attempt coming to an agreement. Following up with the news, it was said that the Academic Staff Union of Universities on Thursday announced its disengagement from further negotiations with the Federal Government, over what it describes as the latter’s perceived insincerity in the 2009 agreement as well as the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) both parties signed in January last year.
According to a press briefing with the Union National President, in the person of Dr. Nassir Faggae Isa in Lagos,Nigeria, the 2009 agreement and the MOU must be honoured if they will have to feel the need to consider renegotiation with the federal government.
Does this mean that they are not yet ready to call off the strike? Well, i just feel pity for the students. When two elephants fight, the grass suffers the hit. Hope this is not what is happening to the students? More updates will be provided as more dramas unfolds.
