Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Akaro Mainoma, urged the students to take their studies seriously and also be good ambassadors of their families, communities and the county at large.
The VC stated that out of the over 50,000 candidates who chose Nasarawa State University in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), only 5,044 got admitted successfully.
He further advised the students to utilize wisely this opportunity of being among the successful ones to secure admission into the university. Professor Mainoma admonished the students to shun vices such as drug abuse, prostitution, cultism, among others, so as to achieve their primary aim of being in the university.
The occasion witnessed a large turnout of parents/guardians, relatives, friends, as well as principal officers of the university.
Suleiman Abdullahi, a student of Mass Communication stated that: “first of all, I need to thank God Almighty for keeping me alive and healthy to witness and celebrate this special day with my relatives and friends. I pray that may God strengthen us all through our periods of studies in this university.”
This year’s matriculation marks the first convocation of NSUK under the administration of Professor Mainoma as the third substantive vice chancellor of the university
