I will say that this is a hard time for some Nigerian University students as the word “increment” has caused alot of commotion for the past few weeks . If you had followed the trend, then you should be aware that about four Universities have been shut down following protest by students and 2 out of these four Universities had protested over the hike in their tuition fees and the last a hike in the prices of product sold within the school environs and the last, over the death of their student. So today i had listed the Universities that have been shut down following students protest during the week:

In no particular order, we have the list below:

University of Lagos (UNILAG)

The school had embarked on a protest following the hike in the prices of products sold in the school. The prices of Pure water and Bread was increased within the school and this however provoked students of the school to stage a protest. In a verge to reduce and prevent casualties, the school senate decided to shut down academic activities for two weeks. You can read full details Here.

University of Portharcourt (UNIPORT)

University of Portharcourt had a protest yesterday, following the increment of tuition fees and the Vice-Chancellors decision to not to allow students who have not paid their school fees participate in their forth coming examination. Uniport had planned kicking off their 2015/2016 first semester examination just before the protest yesterday. Unfortunately, two students were killed in the process. Benue State University (BSUM)

The protest began from shutting down the school gate, but later spilled into the highway where vehicles were denied access for about 30 minutes before officials of the Nigerian Police Force stepped in to clear the protesting students from the highway in peaceful dialogue.The students are demanding for a reversal to the old school fees. Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba (AAUA)

Following the violent protest by students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba which led to the destruction of property within and outside the institution, the authorities of the Ondo State-owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) has directed the immediate closure of the school.The students were protesting the death of their colleague, who was knocked down by a motorcyclist and later died in an ambulance while on the way top the medical centre.
