The federal government on Wednesday approved Edwin Clark University in delta State and Hezekiah University, a Christian owned university in Umudi Imo State.
According to the Minister of Information, Mrs Patricia Akwashiki, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved the two universities based on the conviction that they will address the inadequate access to university education and enrollment of students in the country.
Addressing journalists after FEC meeting, Akwashiki said council approved the universities, following the presentation of the tertiary institution before it by the minister of education.
She said, “The minister of education said in a country where we have 160 million our university, it is not enough to go round. And therefore there was a need to approved additional universities.
”The National Universities commission (NUC) explained to Council why these two universities merited approvals and there were so approved”.
