This is to inform all members of the public that the Ekiti State University (EKSU) has opened admission into the below mentioned postgraduate programmes of the center for gender and development studies (CGDS) for the 2014/2015 academic session.

Postgraduate Diploma in Gender and Development Studies
Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work
Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Gender and Development Studies
Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Social Work –
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Gender and Development Studies
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Social Work

Preamble
The programmes are designed as both professional and academic experience focusing on development issues, especially as these relate to women, children, and the vulnerable groups, thereby catering for the diverse and pressing demand for professional practice in both public and private sectors of the developing nations. The overall objective of the programmes is to build appropriate skill and capacity for the understanding and analysis of a wide range of development issues. Thus, relevant desk officers in government agencies and non-governmental agencies; those who desire to train as (1) social welfare officers, (2) gender analysts for academic institutions, government/private sector organisations and NGOs; and those willing to further their academic pursuit in either Social Work or Gender and Development Studies are eligible for admission into any of the programmes.

Admission Requirements

1. Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work
Candidates for admission into the programme must be holders of:

A bachelors degree not below third class honours in any discipline from a recognized University;
Any approved equivalent professional qualifications (to T above) recognized by the Senate of the Ekiti State University;
Relevant professional qualifications such as FIND Social Work, other related disciplines and approved equivalent qualifications.

2. Postgraduate Diploma in Gender and Development Studies
Admission into the Postgraduate Diploma in Gender and Development Studies Programme is open to holders of:

A bachelors degree not below third class honours in any discipline from a recognized University;
Any approved equivalent professional qualifications (to lt above) recognized by the Senate of the Ekiti State University;
Relevant professional qualifications such as FIND in Gender and Development Studies, other related disciplines and approved equivalent qualifications.

3. Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Gender and Development Studies

Candidates seeking admission into the Master of Science Degree in Gender and Development Studies must possess a minimum admission requirement of Second Class Lower (Honours) in relevant disciplines from a reputable University.

While candidates with a background in Gender Studies, Development Studies, and the Social Sciences (Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Economics, Demography and Population Studies) qualify for a direct admission, graduates of other fields must possess a st Graduate Diploma of at least an upper credit grade (i.e. a minimum GPA of 3.5) in Gender and Development Studies to be eligible for admission.

A candidate having a Rst Graduate Diploma in Gender and Development Studies with a minimum grade of Upper Credit (i.e. a minimum GPAof3.5) and a Third Class Honours in any discipline from E1CSU or a recognised University maybe considered for admission into the M.Sc. Programme.

4. Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Social Work

An applicant for admission to the Master of Science Degree in Social Work must possess a minimum admission requirement of a Second Class Lower (Honours) in relevant disciplines from a reputable University.
Candidates with background in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Social Studies, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Health Education, Mental Health, Psychiatry, Public/Community Health, Nursing, Law or any other related fields shall qualify for a direct admission into the MSW Programme while graduates of other fields must possess a Post Graduate Diploma of at least an upper credit grade (i.e. a minimum GPA of 3.5) in Social Work to be] eligible for admission.

A candidate with Postgraduate Diploma of at least an upper credit grade (i.e. a minimum GPA of 3.5) in Social Work and a Third Class Honours in any discipline from EKSU or a recognised University may be considered for admission into the MSW Programme.

5. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Gender and Development Studies

Admission into the Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Gender and Development Studies is open to candidates who must have passed the M,Sc. degree in Gender and Development Studies with a minimum weighted average score of ‘B’ or ‘60.0’ (B) either from Ekiti State University, or any other recognised university.

6. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Social Work

Admission into the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme in Social Work is open to applicants who possess a Master’s Degree with a minimum Weighted Average Score of ‘B’ or ‘60.0’ in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Gender and Development Studies, Public Health, Social Studies, Guidance and Counseling or any other related fields or disciplines from EISU or any other reputable University.

General Requirements

All candidates must possess a minimum of five credit passes at GCE/SSCE Ordinary Level (obtained at not more than two sittings) including English Language and at least a P7 in Mathematics.

Candidates should  click here  to apply using the “E-transact Receipt” to download the “Application Form”.

Please Note!!!

For those who pay manually: they are to visit the School of Postgraduate Studies or the Centre for Gender and Development Studies (EKSU Main Campus, Ado-Ekiti) for the collection of forms.
Applicants are to attach photocopies of credentials to the duly completed form and submit same at the General Office of the School of Postgraduate Studies, EKSU. Candidates should note that the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies must receive reports and officially dispatched transcripts of academic records of each applicant before his/her application could be processed.

Application forms are obtainable throughout the year. However, only completed Application Forms received not later than the Closing date above will be processed for admission for the 2014/2015 Academic Session.
All other forms purchased or submitted after this date shall be processed against the 2015/2016 Academic Session accordingly.
