1. A former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mallam Adamu Ciroma has called on those clamouring for the independent state of Biafra to bury the idea and embrace Nigeria as their country forever.
According to him, Igbos are scattered all over the part of the country and any attempt to breakout will affect many of them, especially those in business line.
2. Property and cash worth billions of Naira were on Sunday morning consumed in an inferno at the Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure Ultra Modern Market in Minna, the capital of Niger State.
At least 50, shops were completely destroyed in the incident, which was reported to have began around 1am. Despite the presence of the fire service, the inferno did a lot of damages in the market before it was extinguished.
3. One of the leaders of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign States of Biafra, MASSOB, Chief Solomon Chukwu, has played down the opinions in some quarters that the people of the Niger Delta area betrayed Ndigbo during the Nigerian Civil war.
Chukwu said the claim by some persons that the Niger Delta denied Biafra was not true. According to him, the major betrayers of Biafra were even from the South East than the South South bloc.
4. The World Economic Forum, WEF, has ranked the University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT, as the sixth best university in Africa.
This development is coming few weeks after the state airport was globally ranked as one of the worst.
UNIPORT trailed four South African and one Ugandan university in the list of top 30 schools as released by WEF.
5. Super Eagles of Nigeria handler, Sunday Oliseh, is finally back on his feet after suffering from a virus infection, that kept him away from the country for days.
Oliseh, who received the CHAN team in Pretoria on Saturday night, personally took training on Sunday.
6. There are indications that the immediate past deputy governor of Benue State, Steve Obekpa Lawani is set to join the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Lawani will be dumping his party alongside over 1000 followers any moment from now, sources told DAILY POST.
7. Local hunters in Borno on Sunday indicated interest to join the military to fight against insurgents in Sambisa Forest. Malam Mai-Gana Mai-Durma, the Borno Emir of the Hunters, who made the appeal in Maiduguri while addressing newsmen, said that the call became imperative because the hunters were familiar with the terrain at the dreaded forest, the hideout and operational base of the terrorists.
8.The Kebbi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has has denined expelling Senator, Bala Ibn Na’Allah.
The party was reacting to a post on Facebook by a group known as Dandalin a APC, circulating among residents of the state that Na’Allah had been expelled from the party.
The party’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Sani Dododo denied the expulsion.
9. A top military officer has been detained in connection with the $2.1billion arms deals scandal.
The detained military personel was a technical aide to a former National Security Adviser (NSA), the late Gen. Owoye Azazi and his successor, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.).
The detention of the officer is said to have created anxiety among military chiefs who were involved in arms procurement.
10. In the entertainment sector, peace has finally come the ways of Mavin’s Boss, Don Jazzy and YBNL’s CEO, Olamide Adedeji.
The duo clashed at the just concluded Headies Awards over the decision of the organiser to name Mavin’s Reekado Banks as the Next Rated Artiste as against YBNL’s Lil Kesh.
However, the duo took to their Instagram pages on Sunday to post a similar message of apology to their fans and colleagues over the incident.
