Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include:

• The safe and efficient transportation of IRC personnel.
• The safe and efficient transportation of IRC materials
• The care and maintenance of IRC vehicles and accessories
• Comply with IRC fleet and driving policies and standards.
• Representation of IRC in a professional manner.

Expected Deliverables

• Strict adherence to the IRC’s vehicle policies and procedures, including the use of seatbelts by all passengers.
• Daily and pre-long distance vehicle checks. Accurate upkeep of the vehicle’s log sheet.
• Maintaining the vehicle clean, fueled and mechanically sound.
• Inspecting and maintaining vehicle accessories.

Key Working Relationships:

• Position Reports to:  Head Driver
• Position directly supervises: None.
• Indirect Reporting: Logistics Officer.

Qualifications

• Education: Secondary School Leaving Certificate.
• Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience as a professional driver preferably with an INGO.

Language Skills:

• Speak and write English language clearly

Certificates or Licenses:

• Valid National drivers’ license

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

• Pay attention to details.
• problem solving
• Excellent driving skills.
• Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel etc.)

Key Competencies:

• No road safety-related fines or convictions
• Thorough knowledge of road rules and regulations
• Safe/Defensive driving skills.
• Skills in routine vehicle maintenance and minor repair
• Knowledge (or ability to quickly learn) of HF, VHF, and satellite communications equipment.
• Team spirit and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to carry out limited, un-supervised tasks.
• Display an attitude and behavior that reflects well on both themselves and the IRC.
