Job Title: FTR Officer

Location: Borno

Role Purpose

• The Family Tracing and Reunification (FTR) Officer conducts FTR works with child protection caseworkers at the field level to provide identification, documentation, Tracing, reunification, follow-ups and interim family-based care services to unaccompanied, separated and missing children as well as supporting caregivers.
• The incumbent plays a key role in managing FTR caseload through CPIMS database system by collaborating with CPIMS Administrator and FTR Database FP. The FTR Officer organizes and conducts FTR field missions and support to child protection caseworkers by also collaborating with Project Coordinator, project officers, and technical adviser and and other project team member.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop weekly FTR schedules and, debrief the case workers on progress and troubleshoot any particular follow-up, tracing or documentation challenges.
• Prioritize and manage cases of unaccompanied and separated minors (UASC) with great focus of UASC in extremely vulnerable situations
• Conduct tracing actions and temporary care monitoring (TCM) in line with National FTR Working Group and SOPs
• Document all registered cases in the CPIMS (including registration, TCMs, tracing actions, reunifications, cases referrals, etc.) within 7 days of visit
• Conduct weekly meeting with child protection caseworkers, Case management supervisor, M&E officer, CPIMS Administrator and FTR Database FP to review case progress and ensure data entry is completed and accurately verified
• Work with the child protection case workers to raise awareness on prevention of family separations and available FTR services and spread relevant prevention messages in accordance with FTR WG SOP
• Ensure that the FTR data is provided for the 5Ws monthly reports and on time
• Facilitate CPIMS caseload audit to ensure quality of documentation, reporting and case management
• Perform any other duty as maybe assigned to him/her by the line manager.
• Willingness to travel / be in the field regularly.

Reporting:

• Keep the project coordinator informed on the activities of the project by providing relevant correspondence, reports and meeting minutes as well as making regular updates.
• Responsible for prompt submission of all reports to the project coordinator.
• Work closely with implementing partners to prepare and submit reports on approved frequency to the Project coordinator.
• Supervise the  social workers case management to ensure regular follow up of case files of children at risk.
• Identify gaps in service provision to children with a special attention to UASC and CAAFAG and proactively referring and advocate for those gaps to relevant in coordination with the CP Officer.

Qualifications and Experience
Education:

• University Degree in Social Sciences equivalent
• Master’s Degree will be an advantage

Experience:

• At least one year working in international development. Experience in child protection in protracted crisis / early recovery a significant advantage
• Experience in supporting people/teams.
• Experience with start-up of programmes.
• Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with marginalized communities.

Language:

• Fluency in English and Hausa (written and spoken) and excellent writing skills.
• Kanuri is an advantage.

Level of Contact with Children:

• High contact- the job responsibilities of this position require the post holder to have very frequent contact with children.
• It is expected that children who come in contact with GPON shall be protected at all times.
