Contextual Background
The IRC has been present in Nigeria since 2012 when the organization responded to flooding in Kogi state. In February 2014 the IRC moved into Adamawa State in NE Nigeria to provide humanitarian interventions through a multi-sectorial, integrated approach for conflict-affected populations. IRC Nigeria now operates a country office in Abuja and field offices in Mubi and Yola of Adamawa State, Maiduguri, Gwoza and Monguno of Borno State and Damaturu of Yobe State. Currently, IRC Nigeria implements programs focused in primary health care, nutrition, environmental health, women’s protection and empowerment, protection, child protection, education, food security & livelihoods.

The IRC is Child Protection team has in the past seen gap in its programming which seems to have left our specific activities for adolescents. A resource pack for adolescent programming has been developed, field-tested and is being modified to suit the context. This resource pack has been used to expand the Child Protection intervention across the three states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe to specifically meet the needs of adolescents and their caregivers and funding has been secured for this intervention. The Child Protection team will be working with adolescent boys, girls and their caregivers and communities in a direct way, using the Supporting Adolescents and their Families in Emergencies (SAFE) resource package.

Scope of Work
Brief description of the position’s role within the Project(s):

• The CPIMS Officer will assist in the setting up and implementation of the information management system as part of case management responses for children vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, neglect and violence (especially UASC).

Position Objectives:

• To ensure all information collected from the field sites as part of case management responses for children harmed or at risk of being harmed are safely and accurately filed and stored.
• To support caseworkers in managing their caseload by extracting individual caseload information.
• To ensure that all data protection protocols are observed while managing information collected.
• To uphold the IRC Child Safeguarding Policy and the Prevention of Sexual of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse within the work place and communities of intervention.

Who this position reports to:

• The CPIMS reports to the Child Protection Program Coordinator.

Responsibilities
Technical Quality

• Ensure data of all cases registered under case management are correctly entered into the CPIMS Data Base.
• Supervise the coding for all cases registered in the various field sites.
• Responsible for ensuring data protection for all CP data.
• Compile all CP data for report writing across the 3 states.
• Compile the monthly inter-agency 5Ws and share with the relevant organization.
• Work with the CPIMS assistants to produce data and information tracking tools.
• Work closely with the IRC M&E team and represent the CP team where necessary.

Grant Monitoring and Reporting:

• Provide input for weekly and staff activity reports.
• Monitor and report trends in case management to CP Manager on a monthly basis.

Coordination & Representation:

• Effectively communicate with caseworkers, CP assistants, Officers, Manager and Coordinator to provide necessary information concerning reporting.
• Regularly attend case management meetings at field level.
• Attend the inter-agency CPIMS monthly meetings

Program Development:

• Contribute to the development of proposal activities in relation to information management.

Other

• Consistently and proactively monitor / assess the safety and security of field teams; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to IRC management and  liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain / enhance the security environment for IRC programs
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs

Qualifications

• A minimum qualification of Technical diploma or degree / HND in Computer Science, Social Sciences and Humanities.
• Demonstrated understanding of information management principles, tools and systems, knowledge of and experience in using the IA CP IMS preferred.
• Good computer skills such as: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
• Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well.
• Fluency in English required and in Hausa preferred

Work Experience:

• At least three years’ experience working to support children, adolescent girl and boys, women  or parents and caregivers
