WAEC News: The West African Examination Council (WAEC), regulatory body for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), says it is likely to commence Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the objective sections of its examinations.
New Head of WAEC’s Nigerian National Office, Mr. Olutise Adenipekun, disclosed this in Lagos last week while answering questions form journalists.
The WAEC boss said the examination body was pursuing the CBT with all resources available to it, and gave assurance that the dream would be realised in no distant time.
According to him, WAEC cannot afford to lag behind in this era of technological revolutions.
He said the examination body would liaise with ministries of education both at the federal and state levels in order to train teachers for the new exercise when it finally commences.
Adenipekun maintained that the CBT format would further expose candidates who register for its examinations to the numerous benefits of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) which, he observed, had become the driving force for most economies.
