Rector of the Lagos State Polytechnic, (LASPOTECH) has resolved to convert all its annexes to Distance Learning Institute (DLI).

This was disclosed by the Rector of the school, Dr. Abdulazeez Lawal during a pre-convocation press conference held at Ikorodu campus, Lagos.

According to him, the polytechnic has closed all its annexes and as an institution that is focused has moved some of the annexes to the campus. The institution has also resolved to convert all annexes to Distance Learning Institute (DLI) and we have set committee to transform the annexes to distance learning.

While speaking on the activities lined up for the 23rd convocation ceremony of the institution, he said a number of lecturers in the polytechnics have been exposed to academic abroad, saying they are equipped to compare what is obtainable here in Nigeria with that of oversees.

“Before now it was a few of us that are PhD holders and when we talk others will be looking at our mouth that these are experience people but now we have lot of PhD holders among our staff and it will enrich the quality of lectures at LASPOTECH.

However, a total of 7,022 will graduate across all the schools today. Giving a breakdown 4,094 will graduate at the National Diploma (ND) in full time, and 2,928 HND students from the School of Part Time Studies (SPTS).

Speaking further he said all the graduating students are fully ready to face the challenges of life. He also assured the graduands of their certificates immediately after the convocation.

On the issue of dichotomy between HND and Bsc, Dr. Lawal stated that all stakeholders in the polytechnics have been on the issue for long and have been working to close the gap and make sure that there is no discrimination for the holders of Bsc and HND in the country.
