Job Title: IT Officer

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Key Responsibilities
Technical Support:

• Provide technical support to staff for hardware, software, and network issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve IT-related problems in a timely manner.
• Maintain an IT helpdesk and document issues and solutions.

System Maintenance:

• Oversee the maintenance and upgrades of hardware, software, and network systems.
• Ensure the organization’s ICT infrastructure is secure and up-to-date.
• Monitor system performance and address potential issues proactively.

Network Administration:

• Configure and maintain network systems, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
• Ensure secure and reliable internet connectivity.
• Manage firewalls, VPNs, and other security measures.

Data Security and Backup:

• Implement and monitor data security protocols.
• Manage data backups and disaster recovery plans.
• Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations.

ICT Projects:

• Assist in planning and implementing new ICT systems and projects.
• Conduct needs assessments and recommend technological solutions.
• Train staff on new technologies and systems.

Vendor Management:

• Coordinate with external vendors for the procurement and maintenance of ICT resources.
• Ensure timely delivery and proper functioning of purchased equipment and services.

Qualifications
Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, ITIL, CompTIA, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) are an advantage.

Experience:

• 2 – 5 years of experience in ICT support or a related role.
• Proven track record in managing IT systems and networks.

Key Skills:
Technical Proficiency:

• Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS).
• Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Workspace).
• Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL, Oracle).

Problem-Solving:

• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
• Analytical skills to assess system performance and identify improvements.

Communication:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.

Time Management:

• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Teamwork:

• Collaborative mindset to work with various departments.
• Leadership skills to guide and train junior ICT staff.
