After Christmas and New Year celebration, schools in Lagos State, both private and public will today, January 5, 2015 begin academic activities .

The resumption, according to some teachers, would enable schools to cover syllabus before February 14 when general elections will begin.

It would be recalled that students in Lagos State had spent much time at home during the outbreak of Ebola Virus last year.

Students who travelled for the holidays, are expected back home to commence school, while those in boarding schools returned on Sunday.

The students were able to spend the holiday judiciously both in the cinema and beach. When our reporter visited Itican beach at Ajah, school girls and boys were seen swimming and dancing to music.

The beach were filled to the brim with thousand of youths who came from nocks and cranny of Lagos to celebrate new year.

Those who spoke with our reporter noted that new year celebration comes once in a year and that there is need to give thanks to God and celebrate.
