Job Title: Background / Verification Officer

Responsibilities

• Conduct verification field visits to guarantors and addresses.
• Ensure timely verification and processing of verification requests within specified turnaround time.
• Perform detailed background checks and analysis on individuals and entities.
• Follow up promptly and close assigned verification checks.
• Meet control requirements and maintain the integrity of data and reports.
• Perform address, guarantors’ confirmation, references, identity, criminal record/forensic, previous employer, and certificate verifications, both locally and internationally.
• Ensure consistency in background check processes and decisions.
• Investigate outsourced staff involved in fraud-related offenses.
• Properly file physical and electronic storage of official documents.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with team members for efficient service delivery.
• Onboard outsourced staff profiles.
• Conduct outbound calls to collect information and verify applicant employment and academic enrollment.
• Maintain documentation control and generate monthly reports on each account handled.
• Maintain confidentiality of background check information.
• Generate progress reports of verification activities in a timely manner.
• Notify hiring managers of background verification outcomes.
• Handle individual verification and document validation.
• Develop and maintain strategies and tools related to various dimensions of verification.
• Provide reports on certificate verification and budgeting for clients.
• Process background check documentation according to SOPs.
• Conduct telephone interviews and internet-based research for employment, education, and professional license verification.
• Conduct online certificate verification and review
• Assist in fraud investigations and data entry of outsourced staff information.
• Run discreet checks on in-house employees.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Previous experience in compliance, verification, or a related field preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
• Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Fast learning ability and professionalism.
• Ability to manage processes efficiently and prioritize tasks effectively.

Salary
N70,000 – N80,000 monthly.
